CONFLUENCE

Confluence explores the encounter of multiple forces within a single pictorial space. Gestural movements, fragmented forms and shifting fields of colour intersect, overlap and recede, creating a continuous tension between movement and balance.

The composition is built through successive layers of gesture and material, allowing opposing energies to coexist without resolving into a single focal point. Light emerges from within the density of the surface, while quieter passages create moments of visual suspension.

Rather than depicting a specific subject, Confluence invites the viewer into a state of movement a space where colour, gesture and matter converge to form an evolving visual experience.

The work reflects Patrick Joosten’s ongoing exploration of emotional tension, fragmentation and the relationship between energy and silence within abstraction.
