Between Forces

Between Forces explores the tension created when opposing energies occupy the same pictorial space. A dense black mass confronts an open field of white, while vivid red interventions act as points of rupture, movement and resistance.

Through the contrast between weight and suspension, structure and gesture, Patrick Joosten constructs a visual space in which forces appear to collide, separate and remain suspended in equilibrium. The painting does not seek to resolve this tension, but to hold it, allowing instability itself to become a source of energy.
